HDE2

I recently had the opportunity to use HDE (Haydar Desktop Environment), an open source desktop environment specifically designed for Linux/Unix Operating Systems. One of the standout features of HDE is that it heavily utilizes a high level API, which results in a smaller, more stable software that is easy to maintain.

One of the key benefits of HDE is that it is a new window manager for the X11 system, based on qlwm and designed to support all international languages, including Arabic. The heavy usage of the Qt platform enables HDE to be kept small and easy to maintain, making it a practical choice for a wide range of users.

HDE2 in particular offers a number of exciting features that I found particularly useful. For example, it can emulate the look and feel of Windows Vista without the need for an expensive hardware upgrade.
