Head is a Vim plugin that facilitates the easy reading of a file's head or tail, using the file prefix 'head:' or 'tail:'. This plugin provides a seamless experience of managing and editing large files within the Vim editor. With Head, complex commands to work with the beginning or end of files are no longer needed.

To use Head, simply enter a command line code to open a specific file in head or tail mode, like this: 'vim head:TEST.txt' or 'vim tail:TEST.txt'. From within Vim, the plugin can be invoked using the ':e head:TEST.txt' or ':e tail:TEST.txt' command.

For those who don't know, Vim is a highly advanced text editor that was released first in 1991 for the Amiga computer. Developed initially as an extended version of the vi editor, Vim includes many additional features optimized for editing program source code. Vim is free and open-source software, released under a software license compatible with the GNU General Public License. The program's license has some charityware clauses.

Vim's interface is based not on menus or icons but on commands given in a text user interface. The program has a GUI mode, gVim, that adds menus and toolbars for commonly used commands while still relying on the command line mode for the program's full functionality. For beginners, Vim can be challenging to learn initially, but once they get the hang of the basics, they can progress quickly, and editing becomes more efficient. Vim has a built-in tutorial for beginners, and the Vim Users' Manual details the basic and more advanced features of the text editor.

Head is a Vim plugin that requires the Vim editor and works across platforms. To install it, copy the head.vim script to the $HOME/.vim/plugin directory. Refer to the ':help add-plugin', ':help add-global-plugin,' and ':help runtimepath' topics for more information about Vim plugins. Once the installation is complete, restart Vim to include the plugin in the system.

Overall, if you are a Vim enthusiast who frequently works with large files, Head is a plugin that you must have in your arsenal. Its powerful functionalities can save you time and make your editing experience much smoother.
