Hesperides is a Sindarin dictionary software for Mac OS X. It is adapted from Didier Willis' Dragon Flame.
As someone who loves all things Mac, I was excited to discover Hesperides. This is a program that allows Mac users to explore the sindarin language (made famous by J.R.R. Tolkien) thanks to Didier Willis' Dragon Flame dictionary. Hesperides takes the Sindarin dictionary and adds an updated user interface and Narmacil engine to help display the words using Tengwar.
One of the standout features of Hesperides is the "Transcribe to Tengwar" service. It's worth noting though that to use this feature, you must first install the Tengwar fonts system-wide. These fonts are included with Hesperides, but can only be used within the app if you don't install them system-wide. To take advantage of this feature, simply use Font Book to install the fonts located in the 'Fonts' directory of the disk image.
Another great aspect of Hesperides is the ability to customize the program by adding new fonts (as long as they're TrueType) or other modes such as Tengwar Scribe modes. You can even add any fonts or modes you want in your Library/Application Support/Hesperides folder located in your home folder.
