Hircules

Hircules is a robust IRC client, designed for efficient communication and user satisfaction. Written in Haskell, this client is based on the lambdabot code and features an intuitive UI created with gtk2hs. The client provides users convenient tabs for channels and private dialogs, ensuring that important conversations are easily accessible and organized.

To run Hircules, you must have ghc, the Glasgow Haskell Compiler, and gtk2hs, a GTK 2 Binding for Haskell, installed on your system. Optionally, lambdabot is also recommended. With these requirements met, Hircules runs smoothly, delivering a wide range of dynamic features and benefits to its users.

The latest release of Hircules is packed with new features that enhance the user experience. The input area is now located at the bottom of the TextView, rather than in the Entry box, leading to a more efficient use of space. UTF-8 support is now included, and tabs are highlighted when there is channel activity. Additionally, multiline input is now supported, and exceptions from lambdabot modules are now caught. This update also resolves the issue of absolute paths being mistaken for irc commands, and topic changes now appear in the Alert channel.

Hircules now offers even more flexibility, as virtual channels have a '%' in front of them and can be "joined". The IRC log is now date-stamped, and the charset encoding can be set and shown with the new "/coding" command. Build changes are included, with improved lambdabot configure support and build with -Wall made by default.
