The scanner's chipset consists of several components, including the NIPEDC0804, a two-row, 20-pin interface chip that features a 12.000 MHz crystal. The KM2Q65R, a 256k x 16 EDO DRAM chip from Taiwan Memory Technology company, and located on the scanner is the ESIC ES8100QA analog-front-end chip. Additionally, the NIASH00014 100-in-total-main-controller IC is connected to a crystal on pins 61 and 62.
This release of the software includes additional device and company ID for the Silitek derivative, as well as an update to the testtool_xfer.c. The HP3400c scanner also features an EliteMT 100 MHz M11B416256A 256k x 16 DRAM chip instead of the KM2Q65R. Two HP3400c scanners have also been reported to contain the NIASH00019 chip.
