The HTTP-FUSE-KNOPPIX is a KNOPPIX software that can be used for piling up purposes.
HTTP-FUSE-KNOPPIX is a unique KNOPPIX linux distribution that offers a more efficient method of downloading pieces of the Root Filesystem from a HTTP server when it is requested. Unlike traditional KNOPPIX which requires the entire 700MB ISO image upfront, HTTP-FUSE KNOPPIX only downloads the requested pieces, which are then "piled up" on your PC.
This distribution consists of a bootloader with "Linux kernel" and "miniroot", which have a size of only 6MB. The remaining parts of the Root File system, with a size of 700MB, are downloaded in small pieces on demand as a block device. The original block device that includes the Root File system is split into small data pieces, each of which is compressed and saved to a file called a "split-and-compressed block file".
When these files are needed, they are downloaded, and HTTP-FUSE-KNOPPIX creates a virtual block device. This distribution allows the user to select the desired Root File system at boot time, without requiring a CD-ROM for customization.
