The developer, Giuseppe Torelli, noticed that Linux lacked an accessible slide show maker which was easy to use. So, he created Imagination. There are other GUIs available that do the job, but these typically require many dependencies to be installed first. Imagination, in contrast, has been designed to be fast, light, and user-friendly.
The software needs only the ffmpeg encoder to produce the movie file that can then be burned to DVD with another application. Imagination currently offers 57 transition effects that have been developed as plugins and are loaded at the start-up.
