IMGCrush is a software developed for the optimization of image files, which was named in honor of Pngcrush - a similar program devoted to PNG files optimization. The software works by saving optimized images in JPG, PNG, and GIF formats using various settings, then selecting the image that fits the user's specified requirements.
Like other image compressors, IMGCrush compresses image files to achieve the smallest possible file size. However, IMGCrush is unique in that it can compress files using multiple image formats - GIF, JPG, and PNG. This feature allows the user to achieve the best possible file size with a minimum image quality or the highest quality with the maximum specified size.
At the time of writing, IMGCrush is quite slow, but developers are working on improving its performance in future updates. Also, the software can compress whole folders of images.
IMGCrush_GUI is a simple Tkinter Graphics User Interface that offers a minimal subset of IMGCrush options. In the future, it will be substituted with a full-blown GTK or Qt GUI. The software is released under the Simplified BSD License.
