iPhotoToGoogleEarth allows users to easily visualize their GPS-tagged photos in Google Earth, providing a seamless experience for exploring and sharing geo-tagged memories.
Looking to enhance your iPhoto '08 experience? Look no further than iPhotoToGoogleEarth, the plugin that allows you to export your photos for viewing in Google Earth. To make the most of this feature, it's important that you already have GPS information stored in the Exif tags. Those without this knowledge may find this plugin a bit overwhelming.
Luckily, there are great geotaggers available that can help. GPSPhotoLinker is perfect if you've got a GPS log of where you were when you took the image. However, if you don't have access to a log file but have a general idea of the location, the ExifTool and Applescript-powered Geotagger is your solution.
When your photos are correctly tagged, simply select the desired images in iPhoto and begin the Export process. After the files are converted to KMZ format, simply open them in Google Earth or share them with friends to give them a visual representation of where you've been.
Please note that there is a bug in iPhoto that can corrupt your GPS data if you edit the photo after importing. iPhotoToGoogleEarth first attempts to gather coordinates from the modified image; however, if it detects data corruption, it will default back to the original image. As such, we strongly suggest editing your images *BEFORE* adding them to iPhoto to avoid the risk of data loss.
