With iPod-Linux Installer, users can install Linux on their HFS+ formatted iPods without losing the Apple Supplied OS. This software allows users to use both operating systems on their device.
This program is designed to be an effortless graphical user interface tool that empowers Mac OS X users with iPods to install linux on HFS+ formatted iPods, while still preserving the ability to use the Apple supplied operating system. At present, the project provides full support for 1G, 2G, and 3G iPods. While photo, U2, 4G, and mini iPods remain unsupported officially, the support for those, as well as other iPods, will be added as the iPodLinux kernel progresses.
The newest release of this program delivers an array of new functions, such as support for the second revision Nano and 2G iPods; it also comprises other debug information to speed up the debug process.
To use this software, users need an iPod of 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, Mini, or Photo iPod. While installation is possible on Nano and 5G (Video) iPods, it is not officially supported.
