IRIS. Scientific image processor

The IRIS system is a comprehensive program designed for processing and analyzing large quantities of research data, specifically images. Designed with researchers in mind, scientists, engineers, graduate students, and students alike can use IRIS to solve specific problems. Featuring an easy-to-use interface, flexibility, and the ability to integrate with other applications thanks to advanced OLE and DLL-interface, users can process native formats including FITS, SBIG, and BMP (8-bits standard Windows Bitmaps) with ease.

One of the standout features of IRIS is its ability to include support for virtually any data format without needing to recompile the program. The IRIS system comes in three component-applications, each with its own unique suite of tools.

First, the IRIS-integrator (IrIn) acts as the system shell, command center, and data flows control while offering users access to a built-in macrolanguage Bastis and a kit of standard image processing procedures. Second, WisA provides users with image visualization and operative analysis tools. Finally, HeadEdit serves as a tool for viewing and editing accompanying information such as FITS and SBIG headlines, working with data files formats, and keeping track of system journals.
