ISIC tests the stability of an IP Stack and its related stacks through a range of utilities, including TCP, UDP and ICMP.
ISIC is a suite of utilities designed to test the stability of an IP Stack and its component stacks like TCP, UDP, ICMP, among others. This software generates numerous pseudo random packets of the target protocol, and the user has control over the specific aspects that the packets will conform to. For instance, packets could be set to have IP Options of up to 50%, and up to 25% of the packets can be IP fragments, among other configurable options.
Once these packets are generated, they are sent to the target machine to either bypass its firewall rules or find bugs in the IP stack. Additionally, ISIC contains a useful function to generate raw ether frames to examine hardware implementations.
ISIC has become a widely used software tool and other novel applications include IDS testing, stack fingerprinting, breaking sniffers and putting pressure on the IRC kiddie. To use ISIC, you will need Libnet 1.1.x installed.
