jTrana is a tool for analyzing wireless trace data from NS2 simulations. Developed in Java, it provides a user-friendly interface for examining and interpreting complex network behavior.
I recently had the opportunity to use jTrana, a Java-based NS2 wireless trace analyzer, and I was impressed with its capabilities. If you need to analyze NS2 wireless simulation traces, jTrana has a lot of useful features to offer.
One of the key benefits of jTrana is its ability to provide network-related information, such as energy remaining for the whole network, packet statistics, and overall information. It also offers a wealth of nodes-related data, including details about the current selected node, packet ID, throughput, energy, sequence number, delay, RTT, and movement.
Additionally, jTrana provides a custom function that allows you to get data from the MySQL database using SQL-like script and get the results that you need.
To use jTrana, you'll need MySQL and a Java environment (JDK 1.4 or above). Once you've created a user for using MySQL, you can run the application from the decompressed folder using the run.bat file. You'll then input the MySQL username and password to create tables that you can use to analyze the trace data.
If you need to use the custom function to get specific results, you'll need to save the script as a .sql file and import it from the menu using Extend > Execute SQL Script. The format of the SQL file should include a title, whether to draw a chart (Y for chart, N for table), and the query statement. For example, if you want to display packet ID changes of CBR traffic at node 0 in the file named 694demo_AODV_all.tr, your SQL file should include the query statement "select Time,EI from old_wireless_tr where Event='s' and PT='cbr' and TN='MAC' and NI=0 order by Time."
