KarambaLocate

KarambaLocate is a widget that operates as a user interface for the locate shell command. This SuperKaramba widget comes with several key features that work exceptionally well. One of the most notable advantages is the ability to resize the widget by clicking on the find icon. Another great feature is that you can effortlessly search for a file or directory by typing your query and running locate with the return key.

KarambaLocate also offers an easy way to scroll through the result list with either the mouse scroll or by simply clicking on the arrow images. Moreover, if you click on a specific item on the list, like a path of a file or directory, it offers multiple options for opening different file formats, such as html, pdf, png, jpeg, txt, dat, py using programs like konqueror, kpdf, kuickshow, kwrite, and so forth. However, in some situations, it will open the parent directory with konqueror.

Another worthwhile aspect is that the layout of KarambaLocate is designed to stay on the left side of the desktop, ideal for the top-left corner. In terms of requirements, KarambaLocate necessitates SuperKaramba and KDE. To install KarambaLocate, first, uncompress the tar.gz package where you want it, then click on the KarambaLocate/KarambaLocate.theme file.
