Keyword Manager

I recently had the opportunity to try out Keyword Manager, a new photo management software that offers a fresh way of assigning keywords to your pictures. With its sleek and efficient design, Keyword Manager expands the functionality of my familiar iPhoto setup, greatly enhancing my photo management experience.

One of the key features of Keyword Manager is its seamless integration with iPhoto. Loaded as a plugin directly into iPhoto 6 using SIMBL, Keyword Manager works directly on top of iPhoto's functionality, making it completely transparent to iPhoto. Any keywords added to your photos prior to installing Keyword Manager will continue working, and all keywords assigned and created via Keyword Manager will still be present if you ever choose to uninstall the plugin.

Keyword Manager is composed of two windows that blend seamlessly with iPhoto's existing photo-editing windows, using the same style and colors. The Quick Assigner window is where you will assign your keywords, offering an excellent overview of your current photo selection and enabling the fast addition or removal of keywords. The Keyword Manager window, on the other hand, makes it simple to categorize your keywords and order them. It also includes a filtering feature that allows you to quickly find all photos with a specific set of keywords.

One of the unique features of Keyword Manager is its ability to allow for keyword assignment in full-screen mode. Keyword Manager also enables keyword assignment in places where iPhoto does not, such as when editing a photo. Additionally, you can group your keywords hierarchically, allowing you to assign subkeywords to primary keywords. For example, you can assign "Paris" as a subkeyword to "France." Whenever you assign Paris to a photo, France will automatically be assigned as well.

One of the most impressive aspects of Keyword Manager is its smart and fast auto-completion. When using the Quick Assigner to add keywords to your photos, the text field has an auto-completion feature for all existing keywords. It even remembers which keywords you assign most frequently and suggests them first. Creating new keywords is as simple as typing them in and pressing enter. Keyword Manager will also alert you if you enter a new keyword that is spelled similarly to an existing keyword.

Keyword Manager is built to handle a large number of keywords with ease. To help manage hundreds or even thousands of keywords, it provides several tools, such as smart auto-completion when assigning and quick-find of keywords in the manager. It works in synergy with iPhoto to ensure high performance even with thousands and thousands of photos.

Overall, I would highly recommend Keyword Manager for anyone seeking an efficient and streamlined software to help manage their photos. Its unique features and seamless integration with iPhoto make it an ideal addition to any photo management system.
