KleanSweep

KleanSweep is an effective tool for reclaiming precious disk space that may have been consumed by unwanted files. The software enables users to easily search for files using a variety of criteria, such as empty files, backup files, and broken symbolic links. The program can also locate dead menu entries, duplicated files, and orphaned files that are not found in the RPM database.

At the moment, KleanSweep allows users to locate obsolete thumbnails conforming to freedesktop.org standards that point to non-existing images. However, future releases are planned to include updates that allow users to search for orphaned files in Debian and Gentoo databases, empty directories, unused locales, and much more. The software offers options for setting include/exclude paths, file extensions, and related settings.

KleanSweep's graphical front-end is based on the C++ programming language and operates on top of KDE libraries. The software also relies on a small helper Perl script to perform actual searches. Generally, all of KleanSweep's searches (except for orphaned files, duplicates, and menu entries) is fast as a usual 'find' command.

Note that the user needs to have KDE libraries and Perl installed on their system to use KleanSweep. Additionally, it's important to note that the software has no responsibility for any damage caused. In the recent release, the program has removed the "greedy match" button and added translations for Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
