KMap IME is an Input Method Editor software developed with Java technology. This unique software can be used to type any language or Unicode character. It is equipped with Yudit's KMap file format and currently supports over 100 different languages, making it a favorite among users.

A few of the key features you can find in this impressive software include the ability to input Unicode3 characters, support for both Yudit's *.kmap and Simredo's *.kmp input schemes, and the capability to dynamically re-load or update available schemes while running. It is also easy to create or edit new schemes using this software.

KMap IME comes with some minimum system requirements you need to know before use. You must have Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 or higher, as well as the unzip and InputMethodHotKey tool. You also need a Java application that can wait for keyboard input, such as JEdit.

Installing KMap IME is a breeze. You can download the latest version of the software and extract the zip file into a new directory. After that, you can change to the directory and double-click the kmap_ime.jar or execute "java -jar kmap_ime.jar" (without quotes) in a shell. It is essential to copy the kmap_ime.jar file to a directory listed under "lib extension dirs." If the system has an older version of kmap_ime.jar, you can overwrite it.

If you are interested in using the GUI, copy the kmap_ime_gui.jar file to the same directory as the kmap_ime.jar. Also, copy some files from the kmaps directory to a directory listed under "data dirs." Then you can set up a way to call the input methods by downloading the newest version of Sun's InputMethodHotKey tool. Change to the directory where you saved the tool and configure a shortcut.

Once you have set everything up, you can start running the software. Just launch any Java application, use the key combination set up for calling the input methods, choose the KMap IME or KMap IME Simredo input method, select a language or keyboard layout, and write a letter.

The latest release of KMap IME comes loaded with a resource-friendly Express interface and converted data for simredo users. This software is an excellent choice if you need to type in a different language or Unicode character. Its easy-to-use features make it a convenient option for anyone looking to work in multiple languages.
