Kydpdict is a software application that provides a user-friendly graphical interface to access Collins' Polish-English, English-Polish and Langenscheidt Polish-German dictionaries, which are published by Young Digital Poland. This front-end software requires a Windows version of the dictionary to be installed on the user's computer with four specific files, dict100.dat, dict101.dat, dict100.idx, dict101.idx, needed for English to Polish translations and dict200.dat, dict201.dat, dict200.idx, dict201.idx, needed for German to Polish translations.
It is possible that the French version of the YDP dictionary can also be used with this program, however, users are encouraged to contact the support team to confirm its compatibility. Once the specific files have been installed, Kydpdict will prompt the user to select the path to where the files are located.
In addition, if users have mounted a CD-ROM version of the dictionary, the software can play audio samples of the correct English word pronunciation. Although it is possible to copy these files from the CD-ROM and store them in a separate location to pass on to Kydpdict, the software provides a configurable option to encode these files into MP3 or OGG formats.
