Langton's Ant

The Langton's Ant project is an exciting software application that demonstrates a finite-state cellular automata. The ant(s) begin their journey on a grid where each cell is either black or white. If the ant is positioned on a black square, it will turn right by 90 degrees and move forward one unit. Similarly, when it is on a white square, it will turn left by 90 degrees and advance one unit. The software's interesting feature is that when the ant moves from a cell, it inverts the color.

Langton's Ant is unique because regardless of the pattern field, it initially starts on, it eventually creates a "road". This path is an endless series of 117 steps, displacing the ant one pixel both vertically and horizontally. To experience the software to the fullest, it should compile with g++ -lm -lpng -lz 'gtk-config --libs' langton.c. The software's requirement is libstdc++.
