Developed by LaTeX2HTML Team
LaTeX2HTML is a powerful converter written in Perl that enables effective conversion of LATEX documents into HTML format. By converting scientific papers that are primarily typeset for printing into a web-friendly format, this software ensures that users can view them online. Additionally, LaTeX2HTML is ideal for quick website deployment, as a single LATEX source generates beautiful pages.

LaTeX2HTML is compatible with UNIX-like systems, including Linux, Solaris, IRIX, Dec Unix, HP-UX, and AIX, as well as Windows systems such as 95, 98, and NT. Whether for inlined images or character-based browsers, this tool can also produce output suitable for various browsers, as specified by users.

The translator within LaTeX2HTML breaks a document up into one or more components as specified by the user. It also provides optional iconic navigation panels on every page that contain links to other parts of the document. Additionally, LaTeX2HTML handles inlined equations, right-justified numbered equations, tables, or figures, as well as any arbitrary environment.

Furthermore, LaTeX2HTML handles definitions of new commands, environments, theorems (even if they are defined in external style files), and footnotes, tables of contents, lists of figures and tables, bibliographies, and indices. It translates cross-references into hyperlinks and extends the LaTeX cross-referencing mechanism to work between documents that may reside in remote locations.

LaTeX2HTML even recognizes hypertext links and links that invoke arbitrary program scripts expressed as LaTeX commands. It also handles conditional text that is intended only for the hypertext version or paper (DVI) version. Even raw HTML can be included in a LaTeX document, as in the case of interactive forms.

Finally, LaTeX2HTML can deal with all the commands and environments commonly used in LaTeX as summarized in the LaTeX blue book, as well as many packages described in the LaTeX Companion and others. This software will try to translate any document with embedded LaTeX commands, regardless of whether it is complete or syntactically legal. Overall, LaTeX2HTML is an excellent and versatile tool that is truly indispensable for users looking to convert LATEX documents into HTML format.
