The story begins when you were apprenticed to her for five years until a fateful night, when you were studying a difficult spell and felt a sudden surge of magical energy. When you turned around, you found yourself blinded by a flash of white light, and Calesstra was gone.

As the Lightslayer, you embark on a quest to find your missing mentor. However, you had never imagined that your search would take you far beyond your world, through forests, mountains, deserts of burning sand and eternal ice, cities, and swamps. Your journey soon becomes more difficult as you encounter various monsters and complete challenging quests.

The game is played in first-person perspective, which allows for a fully immersive experience. In addition, starting from version 2.0, which was released on 25 June 2005, Lightslayer is entirely free! This version of the game also updates the underlying technology and is the first to be ported to Apple's Macintosh platform.

Lightslayer version 2.1, which was released on 4 July 2005, fixes a couple of bugs that had crept up in version 2.0. If you are running Lightslayer 2.0 or earlier, it is recommended that you upgrade to version 2.1 to ensure the best game experience.
