LoadSimilar software adds context menu entries for quick access to tracks that share specific information.
LoadSimilar is a useful software that provides context menu entries to load tracks with various pieces of information in common with the selected track, such as artist, album, genre, year, score, and playcount. As an avid listener of random mix playlists, I created LoadSimilar to make it easier to find and play entire albums when a song catches my attention.
With LoadSimilar, you can easily load tracks similar to the selected one by choosing one of the six options available in the context menu: By Artist, By Album, By Genre, By Year, By Score, and By Playcount. The software will then search your collection and add all tracks with the corresponding information to your playlist.
By default, LoadSimilar loads a maximum of 500 tracks at once and clears your playlist before adding tracks. However, these behaviors can be customized by editing the top of the loadsimilar.py script.
LoadSimilar was developed and tested on Amarok 1.4.3 running a MySQL collection database, and requires Python (tested only on 2.4). If you encounter any issues while using LoadSimilar, feel free to email me and I'll do my best to fix the problem.
In the latest release of LoadSimilar, I added a random ordering option and made the Clear/Random options adjustable at runtime via the context menu. The script was also adjusted to work with dynamic collections, though it may behave slower due to their more complex database structure.
