lomoco

Lomoco configures vendor-specific options on Logitech USB mice.
Version 1.0
License GPL
Platform Linux
Supported Languages English
Homepage geotag.sourceforge.net
Developed by Andreas Schneider
If you've been struggling to configure your Logitech USB mice or dual-personality mice plugged into your USB port, then you need to give lomoco a try. This software is a fork of lmctl, which was unfortunately no longer being developed. Luckily, lomoco is here to fill that gap and help you configure vendor-specific options on your Logitech USB mice.

A considerable number of recent devices are supported in this program, which makes it a must-have software for any Logitech mouse user. In particular, it's ideal for setting the resolution to 800 cpi or higher for mice that boot at 400 cpi, such as the MX500, MX510, MX1000, and many others. Additionally, the software allows you to disable SmartScroll or Cruise Control, which is perfect for those who would instead use the extra two buttons as ordinary mouse buttons.

One of the best features of lomoco is the "Report New Mouse" option. This feature allows you to send feedback to the developer mailing list by providing the output of specific commands such as cat /proc/bus/input/devices and lsusb -v. The idea behind it is to help the developers identify any issues and improve the software based on their user's feedback.

To ensure that the developers receive the correct information about your mouse, they require you to provide the name of the mouse and the model name. It's always good to check the hardware for the M/N label. For cordless mice, you must provide the model name for both the mouse and receiver, including details such as what kind of receiver (bluetooth). The developers will appreciate your feedback as it helps them keep improving the software.

The lomoco software has undergone some updates in its latest release, including updated udev rules and script for the latest version. A new patch has been added for MX518, MX510, MX310, and MX3100 respectively. Furthermore, a lomoco.xml man page template has been included, and memory leaks have been fixed. All these updates guarantee a more stable and smooth running of the software.

In summary, lomoco's ability to configure vendor-specific options on Logitech USB mice is impressive. It's easy to use and supports a wide range of devices. It's the perfect solution for setting the resolution to 800 cpi or higher for mice that boot at 400 cpi, and disabling SmartScroll or Cruise Control. Its "Report New Mouse" feature is unique and allows users to provide feedback to the developers, who are continually updating the software to meet users' needs.
