MarkVision Professional Server acts as a bridge between MarkVision Client and the devices controlled by MVP.
MarkVisionTM Professional (MVP) is a device management utility software that allows IT professionals to manage their devices remotely. This software operates as a client-server application, where the server searches for and communicates with the devices on the network, providing device information to the client.
To ensure security, MVP has built-in security provisions to prevent unauthorized access to network devices. Users with authorized access can use the MarkVision Web Client, which connects to the MarkVision Server via a supported web browser, to access MVP's management options.
Customize MVP to display only the device information you need by using Quick Find or Discovery Profiles to efficiently locate specific devices on the network. You can also use Folders and Filters, based on single or multiple characteristics, to group devices or conditions such as low toner or paper jam.
MVP's backbone is the MarkVision Server, which powers the software by acting as the single point of contact between the MarkVision Client and all the devices that MVP manages. The MarkVision Server stores device information in a cache, eliminating the complexity of talking to a wide variety of network devices.
Multiple MarkVision Servers can be installed on a network, but a client can only connect with one server at a time. Administrators can use MVP to troubleshoot and fix network printing issues, perform printer and print server maintenance, and routine updates remotely. You can also diagnose and fix printing problems with Quick Find and use extensive Filters to find and group devices based on their characteristics or conditions.
MVP lets administrators configure settings on multiple devices simultaneously with customizable device policies, display devices that meet predefined criteria, and prevent unauthorized access to devices on the network. Additionally, this software allows you to schedule time-intensive activities such as company-wide device discovery or firmware updates when network use is at a minimum.
To use MVP, you need a minimum of 100 MB available hard disk space, an internet or TCP/IP connection, and Java 1.5. You can also download plug-ins for additional device support at runtime.
