McTools-lite

The McTools-lite package is a collection of popular applications from the McTools series. These applications include xplaycd, a powerful audio cdplayer with playlist and database support that is compatible with xmdb. Additionally, there is xmdb, a database editor for xplaycd, xmixer, a program to control various volume settings of your soundcard, and xgetfile, a file dialog suitable for shell-scripts. While other programs such as XG3 and XGal can be found on the original website, these are less commonly used.

To install McTools-lite, you will need to have the McTools library. If you do not see a directory named McTools or no files named `config-dist.h' or `build', you will have to download the appropriate McTools-xxxxxx.tar.gz file first. McTools-lite includes many McTools-based X-software, and to learn more, read the README.xxx file.

To build and install, first, copy config-dist.h to config.h and edit it to reflect your preferences. Then type "./build all" to compile everything or "./build " to compile programs in a specific directory. Finally, type "./build install" to install everything as specified in config.h, or "./build install " to install programs in a specific directory.

The latest release includes updates such as XMixer trying to remain backwards compatible with older versions of USS, displaying PAS16 special buttons only if the card is present, and having an option to hide the exit button. Overall, McTools-lite is a reliable package of commonly-used applications with straightforward installation and updates.
