MediaWikiFTP

I recently had the opportunity to try out the MediaWikiFTP project and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with its functionality. This software is designed to be a seamlessly integrated replacement for your command line FTP client when used in conjunction with Emacs. Its primary purpose is to provide transparent access to FTP servers, while allowing you to work with custom, non-FTP ports.

By emulating an FTP server and client for your Media Wiki site, MediaWikiFTP makes it easy to access your Wiki articles as files. Otherwise, it simply passes control to your regular FTP client, allowing you to continue working as you normally would. This feature alone makes it incredibly versatile and convenient to use.

One of the best parts about MediaWikiFTP is how easy it is to install and use. It works with a vanilla Python installation, version 2.3 or higher. All you need to do to install it is to copy it to a directory on your $PATH and make sure it's executable. From there, you can easily configure it in Emacs by adding the following code to your .emacs file: (custom-set-variables ;; custom-set-variables was added by Custom. ;; If you edit it by hand, you could mess it up, so be careful. ;; Your init file should contain only one such instance. ;; If there is more than one, they won't work right. Overall, I would highly recommend MediaWikiFTP to anyone looking for a reliable and user-friendly FTP client replacement.
