MEPIS SoHoServer

MEPIS has recently released MEPIS SoHoServer Test02 for public testing, which is now conveniently available for download via the public mirrors and the MEPIS subscription ftp server. All you need to do is to look in the testing subdirectory where you can easily access it. SoHoServer is a general-purpose server that is based on the recent release of Debian "sarge."

As this is a preinstalled and configured server software, it comes with a lot of features that include Apache2, PHP4, Perl, Mysql, Proftpd, Bind, DHCPd, Postfix, Dovecot, Shorewall, Squid, DansGuardian, Webmin, and Usermin. Like any other MEPIS products, SoHoServer is easy to try, install, and use. It comes with preconfigured defaults that "just work" in most situations which makes it quite convenient.

Early users have reported that even if someone has a limited experience with servers, they can easily set up and run a MEPIS SoHoServer in just fifteen minutes or so. Test 02 of MEPIS SoHoServer has more updated preconfigs, which are taken in response to user feedback. The latest security updates have been added along with the MEPIS tools being updated to the latest versions.
