Mighty Mike, formerly known as Power Pete and originally developed by MacPlay in 1995, is now available as shareware for $15. Despite being five years old, the game remains just as enjoyable now as it did upon its initial release. Its staying power is a testament to the game's design, which has endured over time.
The developers have addressed issues that arose in the intervening years, and added support for Draw Sprocket and Input Sprocket. This enables the game to look and function better, and also broadens compatibility with input devices such as gamepads and joysticks.
However, the game requires a shareware fee and registration to access all 15 levels. Until then, the demo will only permit access to the first three levels, and will "time bomb" after approximately an hour of play.
Mighty Mike is compatible with any PowerPC Mac with at least 16 MB of RAM, as well as InputSprocket and DrawSprocket. Despite these limitations, this is an excellent game that offers significant entertainment for a relatively low cost.
