Mixere

Mixere is an exceptional free, open-source application designed exclusively for mixing audio files. It is compatible with Windows NT/2000/XP and supports various audio file formats such as WAV, AIFF, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Flac, and Mod. Mixere is an ideal software for live performances and creating multi-layered sound collages. It provides features such as dynamic looping and triggering of audio, automated volume, pan, and pitch sliders, soft mute/solo operations, crossfading between documents, snapshots for rapid scene changes, unlimited undo, clipboard support, and drag and drop.

Mixere comes with variable automation waveforms and is intuitive and easy to learn. It ensures comprehensive help, low CPU/memory usage and can work with unlimited audio file sizes, allowing audio streaming directly from disk for minimal waiting time. A Mixere document contains different tracks, each comprising a single audio file, allowing for an infinite number of tracks that can play simultaneously, depending solely on Windows and sound card performance limits.

Mixere's interface is similar to a spreadsheet, with rows being tracks and columns being properties, allowing for multiple adjustments of each track such as name, transport (play/pause/stop/loop), mute/solo, volume, pan, pitch, and audio position. Although Mixere doesn't record, its output can be captured using any third-party audio capture tool like River Past Audio Capture.
