MMS Decoder

MMS Decoder is an impressive script for displaying MMS messages on a web page. This software has the ability to receive and decode MMS messages, after which they are displayed on a designated web page. It achieves this by acting as an MMSC server, to which MMS messages can be sent. The only requirement to properly use this software is an internet connected webserver with PHP support, and a phone that has the ability to send MMS. However, it's important to note that certain operators may have blocked all MMS servers except their own, rendering the application incompatible.

Typically, when an MMS is sent, it's sent to the operator's MMSC, which in turn notifies the receiver of the message through a binary encoded SMS. The receiver then connects to the MMSC server to access the MMS via HTTP. However, MMS Decoder provides an alternative solution by intercepting the MMS and decoding it according to the specifications defined in the WAP-209-MMSEncapsulation-20020105-a and wap-230-wsp-20010705-a documents. The message is then stored for display on the designated web page.

To make this software work on your phone, all that's required is to set your phone's MMSC to the designated URL (e.g. http://yourserver.com/mmsdecoder.php), and start sending MMS messages. This solution circumvents the high cost of MMS messaging, which can often be 20 cents or more per message. Instead, the MMS is sent over WAP, provided by your operator, and for a much lower cost.

Interestingly, MMS Decoder was initially written as a school project, and the creator has released a detailed report of the decoding mechanism. However, this report is written in Swedish and may not be of use to those without knowledge of the language.
