mnkPasswordKeeper

I recently tried out mnkPasswordKeeper and found it to be a great software for saving passwords and notes on a USB key. It is also great to be able to use the software on multiple platforms. The GUI is built using the Qt framework, and XML reading is done using the same, which has been incredibly efficient.

The software uses Camellia from NTT as a cipher, and I had no issues running it successfully on GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X, which is great.

To install it, I had to get a working Qt installation - Version 4.4.1 was used in my case. Following that, I ran the "./build.sh" command, and then copied mnkPasswordKeeper, fileclose.png and *.qm files to the same target directory, which was $HOME/bin on my system. I used the default password file which is "passworddb.xmls", and it was read without any issues.

One thing to note is that a simple shell script can be used to run the software, which I found to be quite effective. I used the below code for reference:

The default Master password for passworddb.xmls is "default", which I then changed to my own.

While the overall experience was great, one issue I faced was with the dockwidget being too large, and I couldn't resize it due to a bug in Qt. However, this may be fixed in Qt 4.4.0.

Overall, I would definitely recommend mnkPasswordKeeper for anyone looking for a reliable and efficient password saving software.
