The mpg123+eq patch is an impressive upgrade for the mpg123 0.59r software, adding a -Q option that allows users to display a 16 band graphical equalizer. Notably, the EQ feature can be toggled on or off, and if enabled during exit, parameters are conveniently saved to ~/.eq for restoring the next time the software is run. Additionally, this patch offers an LCD-like display that can show the Artist and Title.
What's more, the mpg123+eq patch uses MPEG Software Simulation Group's reference decoder package, as well as code and ideas from various contributors including Tobias Bading, Jeff Tsay, and Philipp Knirsch. Moreover, the patch introduces a host of new changes, including BSDOS 4.0 support, Solaris-ESD patch updates, AMD-3DNow optimizations, and minor improvements in layer3 (dequantize/huffman).
Other significant changes include native AIX support from [email protected] and an applied playlist patch from "Various" contributors. Specifically, the new version includes a slew of "paetsches" from DK, with the final dk7-clubhaus edition that features an extended term control.
