multistat

Multistat is a versatile program designed to display the up/down status of various items including VPN, specific machines, and filesystems. To configure the program to monitor the desired properties, you will need to edit the multistat.py file. The status for each property is either green or red, which is determined by the presence of specific strings in the output of the commands used to check each property's state.

Multistat allows you to define several arrays for each property, including green_cmds, red_cmds, check_colour_cmds, is_green, green_display_strings, and red_display_strings. These arrays are used to display the corresponding strings and execute commands when the item's status changes.

To toggle a property's status, simply click on the item displayed in the widget. If the green_cmds and red_cmds are defined, clicking on the item will trigger the executing of the corresponding command, toggling the status between green and red. For items where a toggle doesn't make sense, such as monitoring the status of a machine on the network, the green_cmds and red_cmds should be empty strings.

Multistat allows you to customize the color scheme by easily changing the displayed colors as per your requirements. The program updates the properties every minute by default but can be adjusted to a faster or slower rate. Overall, Multistat is a useful program that offers a simple way to monitor the status of multiple items and automate the handling of each item's corresponding commands.
