MXK is an innovative input rewriting server that has taken the input system to a new level. It is designed to surpass the limitations of conventional keyboard mappings. Numerous creative applications of mxk have been designed by users, for instance, providing a standalone chording Braille input solution from a conventional keyboard via the SDFJKL keys, as well as a quick switch between Dvorak and QWERTY keyboard with a single keystroke that can operate on any login prompt.

Aside from that, the software boasts other features such as the macro recorder, with function keys permitting the recording of macros with ease. The keypad mouse, programming the keypad to function similarly to a mouse with a scroll wheel, rounds off the software's functionalities.

Another noteworthy feature is the joystick to mouse mapping: extra buttons can be mapped to commonly used browser shortcuts, enabling easy web browsing with a joystick. The software can further be enabled so that mouse movements are interpreted as arrow keypresses, allowing the user to use the mouse to control the arrow keys.

MXK avails itself of the Linux evdev/uinput infrastructure, which ensures it runs entirely in userspace and, hence, does not necessitate the use of special kernel drivers or patches.

In addition to the aforementioned features, MXK has undergone and undergone issues that have been resolved. Bugs such as problematic interferences with sessions of other scripts were fixed. The default order of the user appointment list was also adjusted to descending. Misaligned fields in the admin area have been adjusted, as have issues where appointment fields are empty if an appointment is being rescheduled. Additionally, the display of temporary appointments was corrected.
