MyJDCMS

March 9, 2008
MyJDCMS is a user-friendly and basic CMS that makes use of a pre-existing web-based WYSIWYG editor. It simplifies content management for websites.
Version 0.1
License GPL
Platform Linux
Supported Languages English
Homepage myjdcms.sourceforge.net
Developed by Jonathan Davis
MyJDCMS is a CMS (Content Management System) that is designed to be simple and straightforward. It is meant for users who only make occasional updates to their static website, so that they can quickly and easily keep their site up-to-date.

Getting started with MyJDCMS is easy if your website is structured like this:

- index.html: HTML PAGE
- page2.html: HTML PAGE
- page3.html: HTML PAGE
- style.css: CSS STYLESHEET
- images/: IMAGES FOLDER

You can name the images folder and stylesheet whatever you like, and you can configure everything in the config.php file.

To install MyJDCMS, simply unzip the files and place the MyJDCMS folder on your server. Ideally, you should put it in a directory close to the files you will be editing. Then, open up the config.php file and check that all the variables are correct. These include:

- $username: the username you will use to access the CMS system
- $password: the password you will use to access the CMS system
- $sitename: the name of the website you are using MyJDCMS with (this can be anything)
- $url: the URL of the website or the URL of the folder containing the index.html file (do not include the trailing slash)
- $stylesheet: the name of the stylesheet (usually 'style.css')
- $images: the name of the images folder (usually 'images')
- $filepath: the path to the folder containing all your files

You should also make sure that your html files and images folder have the correct permissions. Chmodding them to 666 should give MyJDCMS the read/write access it needs to edit them.

Using MyJDCMS is fairly straightforward as well.

To log in, go to the MyJDCMS folder on your web server and enter your username and password. Once you're logged in, you should see a list of HTML files. Click on the appropriate filename to open the file in the editor. The editor can be resized using the bottom-right corner. You can add images using the 'Image' icon, and you can save files using the top-left 'Save' icon.

To upload an image, click the Images link from the MyJDCMS toolbar, then choose an image from your hard disk and click 'Upload'. MyJDCMS will give you the URL for the image, which you can then paste into the editor when adding an image to a page.

To view existing images, click the Images link from the MyJDCMS toolbar, then click the 'View Uploaded Images' link. You will see all the images, along with their URLs.

To log out of MyJDCMS, click the 'Logout' link on the toolbar.
