The mysqlRadiusd project offers a MySQL-powered RADIUS daemon that has potential for use with mysqlISP, a GPL ISP management software system. This software is an adaptation of the 1.6.6 Cistron distribution alongside the addition of mySQL patches. Notably, mysqlRadiusd can support the substantial demands of large ISPs while maintaining stability and swiftly pumping accounting records into the mysqlRadacct subsystem, even within multi-server clusters.
In order to utilize mysqlRadiusd, you must have the MySQL server and client libs installed and running on the same server as the application. Furthermore, you should protect your MySQL ports through firewalls or other means, and have a running Apache server on the same server with CGI capabilities. Lastly, the software is SSL enabled if possible, though non-SSL setups can operate on intranets or similar environments.
It is important to note that Cistron radiusd 1.6.6 must be compiled and installed on your server, and a recommended version includes the mysqlRadacct and mysqlSendmail modifications.
In the latest release, this software now includes a LICENSE and CHANGES, and the previous TODO list has been resolved. As well, des/md5 has undergone production testing and is working effectively.
