Net-o-Grama is a multiplayer anagram game that allows up to 4 players to compete. It also has a single-player option.
Net-o-Grama is a networked anagram puzzle game that allows up to 4 players to play simultaneously, but you can also play alone. It currently offers a server and terminal-based client for Linux, however, a graphical client using SDL is currently in development.
To use Net-o-Grama, you must have SDL, SDL_mixer, and ncurses. If you don't want to struggle with compiling, precompiled binaries for Ubuntu 7.10 are available in the tar package.
To compile the program, you must have development files for glib-2.0, ncurses, sdl, and sdl-mixer. After that, CD to the main nog directory and type "make all". This will produce three executables: nog_srv, the server, nog_ncurses, the ncurses client with (sdl) sound, and nog_ncurses_nosound, the ncurses client without sound.
Once the server is up and running, you can connect to up to four clients at the same time. You can execute several server commands using the "typ" command which impact how the game is played. Additionally, during gameplay, several keys on the keyboard can be used for guessing words, including a..z to move the first occurrence of a letter to the end of the guess and SPACE to shuffle remaining letters.
Overall, Net-o-Grama is an enjoyable and accessible anagram puzzle game that allows multiple players to compete against each other. The program even allows remote players to participate without any issues, making it a great way to connect virtually with friends or family.
