Net::NIS

Net::NIS is a Perl interface that offers three different parts for easy access to NIS maps. The first part, called raw, provides a straightforward implementation of the NIS API.

The second part, OO, is the object interface that's explained in more detail under Net::NIS::Table. This feature provides more advanced options for users who require a more specific experience.

The third part is called Tie, and it's a new interface that enables simple access to NIS maps through the use of Perl hashes. This feature can be accessed by using the Net::NIS module and provides the user with an efficient method for accessing NIS maps.

To start using this module, the user can write "use Net::NIS;" then tie the hash with "tie %hash, 'Net::NIS', $mapname [, $domainname];" After which the user can access values by writing "$value = $hash{$key};"

Alternatively, the user can use the yp_match feature by calling "($status, $value) = Net::NIS::yp_match (Net::NIS::yp_get_default_domain(), $mapname, $key);" providing another way to access the information from the NIS maps.

Overall, Net::NIS proves to be an effective software tool that can make accessing and interacting with NIS maps simple and straightforward.
