Check Port is a feature that lets you determine whether or not a port on the target host is open. It defaults to port 80. There's also a Ping feature that performs a 5-packet ping to the target, requiring a ping binary. The Traceroute feature performs a traceroute to the target and requires a traceroute binary.
To use the Network Query Tool, you will need PHP 5.x, and the latest stable release of PHP is always suggested. In version 1.8, Network Query Tool relies upon object-oriented features introduced in PHP 5, and it no longer works under PHP 3 or 4. To ensure full functionality, standard ping, traceroute, and dig binaries are suggested. The first two binaries typically exist even on Windows servers, so a Unix environment is not required.
In the latest release, the developers have fixed various bugs, including a regex bug where domains with hyphens would not be recognized. There was also a bug where IP address lookups were not properly occurring, and a bug where .fr domains were associated with two distinct and incorrect whois servers.
