ngbatch

Ngbatch project is a software designed to solve the problem of newsgroup/rmgroups batching for INN. It offers a new way of executing newgroup and rmgroup controls by delaying the process, which helps to prevent newgroup/rmgroup wars. The program remembers rmgroups for some time and gives priority to them over newgroups. This means that if a trusted issuer has already sent an rmgroup for a particular group, any newgroup for that group will be ignored.

When a newgroup is executed, it has to wait for a specific period to prevent it from being removed soon after. Each newgroup or rmgroup control message is saved in a batch file, and a cron job collects the commands from that batch file and executes only those newgroups for which no rmgroup has been received.

To set up the software, control scripts for newgroup and rmgroup should be changed to call ngbatch instead of ctlinnd. Active trusted rmgroupers should be listed in the control.ctl file.

Periodically running from crontab executes a batch run. The wait time for newgroup commands to be executed can be customized using the options < -w> < days > and < -h > < days > sets the time for rmgroup commands to be remembered.
