NJStar Communicator enables users to input, read, and print CJK languages on Windows with English or western settings. It facilitates the viewing of CJK web pages, as well as reading and writing CJK emails and newsgroup discussions.

In the latest version 3.30, NJStar Communicator added new features such as compatibility with Windows 10, an improved Pinyin input list with a '+' button for adding new Pinyin words quickly, showing 'fang an' and 'fan gan' when typing 'fangan' and other minor improvements. Additionally, it has fixed some minor bugs, such as the Radical Dialog box showing too much flickering when resizing.
In version 3.20, the software introduced new features such as support for the latest web browsers including IE10, Google Chrome 30, Firefox 24, Opera 17, as well as support for Windows 8, 8.1, and Windows Server 2012. It also added a live upgrade checker and a backup, restore, and reset function for IME User Data, and a Chinese two-stroke input method.
The version 3.0 of NJStar Communicator brought a significant improvement in support for Windows 7/Vista/XP/2003/2008 32/64 Bits, support for 64 bit Applications on 64 bit Windows, Direct2D and Direct3D applications, and Chinese CNS code, UTF16-BE in Universal code convertor. It also added a Pinyin number to tone conversion and vice versa in the Universal code converter, all Chinese IMEs based on Unicode capable of inputting 70,000 characters, and a feature that shows the meaning of candidate characters by hovering the mouse over them.
Furthermore, the software provides a lookup of Unicode UniHan and CJK Ext. A/B characters using Radical lookup, allows resizing of the input bar and Radical lookup dialog for larger characters on hi-dpi screens, and enables displaying of inputted Chinese exactly as entered without any conversion. It comes in English, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and has the option to limit code range for simplified, traditional, and HK Chinese inputs.
Lastly, the professional versions of NJStar Communicator come with ten to fifty-two NJStar OpenType PS fonts. However, it's essential to note that support for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000 has been dropped in v3.0, and users should use v2.75 instead.
