NmapFE

NmapFE is a graphical X Window front end for nmap, which makes it a highly useful tool for security experts. Recent versions of both the source code and binary packages are well documented, and are available in different locations depending on the age of the release. For security conscious users, GPG detached signatures and MD5/SHA-1 hashes for each release are available in the sigs directory to ensure that any installation has not been tampered with.

Before downloading, it is important to read the appropriate sections for your platform from the Nmap Install Guide. The Changelog offers information on important changes including bugfixes and new features. The Reference Guide offers a wealth of knowledge on how to use Nmap, while other available documentation should not be ignored.

Nmap is distributed with source code under the terms of the GNU General Public License. It includes a modified version of the Libpcap packet capturing library, Libdnet low-level networking library, and the PCRE Perl-compatible regular expression library. Additionally, it can be linked with the OpenSSL Encryption Toolkit to offer SSL-enhanced service/version detection if desired.
