Notabene

As a software reviewer, I find that Notabene offers a unique approach to document writing and storage. Unlike other applications, it doesn't write documents or preferences to the hard disk, instead saving them within the application itself. This means that the size of Notabene is subject to change, and it cannot be launched from a write-protected medium. However, this approach also makes the application more secure, as user data is not easily accessible through the operating system.

Apart from its novel storage method, Notabene also offers a range of useful features. It functions like a notepad application, allowing users to hold data securely within it. For Mac users, it is recommended to place the application in the user's Applications folder rather than the /Applications directory, where it will be accessible to all users.

One of Notabene's strengths is its browser-like functions and the ability to have more than one text field per page. All of its features can be accessed through the toolbar, making the application straightforward and easy to use.

However, for those still running older versions of OS X or Classic, it is worth noting that with hundreds or thousands of pages stored, it may be necessary to increase the preferred memory in the application's Get Info panel. Overall, I found Notabene to be a solid and unique approach to document writing and storage, with a clean and intuitive interface.
