The NVPerfKit project is an all-inclusive performance tool suite to efficiently debug and profile Direct3D and OpenGL applications. It offers access to performance counters present in the driver and hardware counters residing in the GPU itself. The counters carry crucial insights on how the software interacts with the GPU, and they can be used to detect and confirm the resolution of performance issues in the system.
The latest version NVPerfKit 2.1 has acquired support for 64-bit Windows platforms as well as 32-bit and 64-bit Linux platforms. The installer has also been updated, and the upgrade includes enhancements to NVPerfHUD, Release 90 driver support, and various other features.
Performance counters stay within reach in OpenGL and DirectX applications, and analysis tools such as Intel VTune and Graphic Remedy's gDEBugger via WMI PDH interface. Additional support is provided via Microsoft PIX for Windows plug-in giving easy accessibility to low-latency performance counters directly from the driver.
