OpenVZ Live CD

The OpenVZ Live CD is a server virtualization solution that operates at the Operating System level and is built on Linux. This solution creates isolated, secure virtual environments on a single physical server, known as VEs (Virtual Private Servers or VPSs). The OpenVZ technology provides better server utilization while ensuring that applications do not conflict. Each VE can be rebooted independently and has root access, users, IP addresses, memory, processes, files, applications, system libraries, and configuration files.

The OpenVZ Live CD image is available for download, and it is based on Knoppix 5.1.1. The Live CD is an excellent way to test drive the OpenVZ technology without actually having to install it on your machine. The OpenVZ Live CD includes the kernel 2.6.18-028stab027, vzctl 3.0.16, and vzquota 3.0.9, along with a number of precreated templates such as Debian 3.1 minimal, CentOS 4 minimal, and Fedora Core 5 minimal.

Moreover, the OpenVZ Live CD also contains all the software from the original Knoppix 5.1.1 CD, except for OpenOffice, GIMP, and Frozen Bubble. These packages were removed from the CD to make room for OpenVZ packages.
