OperaFS

If you're searching for a Linux implementation of the Opera file system, then you may want to check out OperaFS. It's the same file system that comes on 3DO CD-ROMs. OperaFS offers various mount options, such as uid, gid, fmask, dmask, and umask. For instance, if you don't specify a uid or gid, it will default to the user who mounts the file system. Meanwhile, fmask and dmask options apply a mask to the permissions of all files and directories, with default values of umask.

OperaFS offers two other features: showspecial and hidespecial. The former displays directory entries such as volume labels and catapult files as normal files. On the other hand, hidespecial does not make special directory entries available. The default is hidespecial.

To use OperaFS, you need to compile your kernel sources with make and the modules available in your present working directory. Then, as root, you need to insmod operafs.ko. After that, you can mount Opera file systems just like any other file system.

This release of OperaFS brings the project up to date with the latest Linux kernel versions. Everything that was available in 1.0b2 is still functionally equivalent and now verified to work with 2.6.23.1.
