Original Disk Mount Applet

I recently came across a software tool called Original Disk Mount Applet, which is essentially a disk mount panel applet. It appears to be very similar to the disk mounter included with GNOME 2.8. However, with the release of GNOME 2.10, the official applet underwent a significant overhaul which included the addition of the ability to autodetect mountable devices. Unfortunately, in the process, the new version dropped some of the configurability options, such as the ability to select which devices are displayed on the panel, their order, or icon representation.

If you're someone who prefers the old disk mounter behavior for GNOME 2.10, then the Original Disk Mount Applet is a must-have tool. Once installed, you can enjoy the same features and control options that were available in the old applet. One thing to keep in mind though is that this applet requires a minimum of GNOME panel version 2.10 to work correctly.

The latest release of Original Disk Mount Applet is a standalone version of the disk mounter panel applet that used to exist through GNOME 2.8.
