If you're in need of software that can seamlessly mount encrypted partitions upon login, then look no further than pam_cloop. This PAM module works by first prompting for your cryptoloop passphrase, and then prompting for your Unix password. Only by successfully entering both will you be able to login.

For those who keep their home directory on an encrypted partition, this is especially useful. In the past, logging in as root, manually mounting your home directory, and then logging in again as your normal user was the norm. But with pam_cloop, all of that is now a thing of the past. Now, with this module, all you have to do is enter your username, passphrase, and normal password to log in without needing to go through multiple steps.
