Paniagua

Paniagua is a software filter that can replace specific, marked critical parts in HTML code with encrypted JavaScript code. If you've ever entered your email address onto a web page, you'll know that spam emails can start coming through to your inbox within a week. A famous anti-spamming solution is to write something like nincompoop_AT_whitehouse_DOT_gov, but this is an aesthetic concern for many, and it cannot be used as a working link.

Paniagua is here to ease your worries. By embedding critical parts of your web page into "paniagua" tags, Paniagua can take these pieces and translate them into JavaScript after encryption. You can utilize tags within these pieces, but it is recommended to avoid three consecutive >>> and instead write > >>. Currently, a piece may only be in one code line, but the line itself can be very long.

There is also an alternative text for scenarios where users have turned off JavaScript or are utilising a browser that can't execute JavaScript (e.g. Lynx). Umlauts and other "local" characters function if named entities are used (e.g. ü), and they should function if the coding is of the entire document. However, Unicode coding with a character code >=239 could cause problems.

Pages encrypted with Paniagua remain accessible, and nearly all browsers used by handicapped individuals can translate those pages into comprehensible content. If unsure, adding an alternative version of critical parts is recommended to ensure accessibility.
