Pathfinder PKI Daemon

Pathfinder PKI Daemon is a software designed to enable programs to execute RFC3280-compliant path validation of X509 certificates. With this tool, even if some intermediate certificates are not physically present on the local machine, users can still carry out validation without any issue. To achieve this, the software will automatically download these certificates including their CRLs from the Internet, as required, taking advantage of AIA and CRL distribution point extensions of the certificates.

Pathfinder Daemon works by default, through the D-Bus system bus actively listening for incoming validation requests. With this configuration, the program automatically ensures that all certificates validated are trustworthy. In addition, the Pathfinder PKI Daemon distribution includes two libraries that contain callback functions suitable for use with SSL connections from OpenSSL or NSS.
